Sclerotherapy

Sclerotherapy is a procedure used to treat unwanted blood vessels. A solution, called the sclerosing solution, is injected through a very fine needle, directly in to the veins. Once inside, the sclerosing solution causes the vessels to shrink and eventually fade or disappear. Occasionally veins must be injected several times, but most patients see a 50% to 90% improvement. Compression stockings should ideially be worn daily for at least a week after the procedure.
